Introduction
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for downloading the Java(tm) Cryptography Extension (JCE) 1.2.1.

JCE 1.2.1 supplements the Java Development Kit (JDK(tm)) 1.2, and requires
that you have JDK 1.2 installed.

JCE 1.2.1 is written entirely in the Java(tm) programming language.

Understanding The Export Issues
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
JCE 1.2.1 has been through the U.S. export review process. Both the JCE
1.2.1 framework and the SunJCE provider are exportable.

JCE 1.2.1 introduces an architecture which allows flexible cryptographic
strength be configured via jurisdiction policy files. The jurisdiction
policy files for global users, which are distributed with the JCE 1.2.1
software, have built-in restrictions to available cryptographic strength.
The jurisdiction policy files for users within the U.S. and Canada, which
are available to users within the U.S. and Canada only, have no such
restrictions. When you downloaded the software and agreed to the terms of
the license, you agreed to comply with all U.S. laws and regulations
concerning export of this software. Be aware that if you export the
jurisdiction policy files designed for the U.S. and Canada users outside
the U.S. or Canada, you are liable of violating U.S. laws.

A product that incorporates JCE 1.2.1 may be subject to export control
regulations.
